VektorCAD — File Management

VektorCAD provides a cloud‑based file management system similar to Google Drive. It allows you to create, organize, share, and manage drawings seamlessly.

1) Home Screen

The Home Screen is the starting point for managing files.

Features:

  • Blank Drawing: Click to create a new drawing. It is stored to the cloud and opened immediately for editing.
  • Custom Templates: Start a new drawing from predefined templates.
  • Recent Drawings: Quick access to your most recently opened or edited drawings.
  • Shared With Me: Displays drawings that others have shared with you.

2) My Drawings Screen

Organize and manage all of your own drawings.

Features:

  • Folders: Create new folders to categorize and organize drawings.
  • Drawings: Each drawing is represented as a card with preview and options.
  • Opening Files: Double‑click a drawing to open it for editing.

  • Drawing Menu: Click the ⋮ (three dots) on a drawing card to access options:

  • Open: Opens the drawing in the current tab.

  • Open in New Tab: Opens the drawing in a separate browser tab.
  • Rename: Change the drawing name.
  • Make a Copy: Duplicate the drawing into your workspace.
  • Make as Template: Save the drawing as a reusable template.
  • Download as PDF File: Export the drawing as a PDF.
  • Share: Invite others to view or edit the drawing.
  • Move to Bin: Sends the drawing to the bin (trash).

3) Shared With Me Screen

Displays all files that others have shared with you.

Features:

  • View & Open: Double‑click to open a shared file.
  • Access Levels: Files may be view‑only or editable, depending on permissions set by the owner.

4) Bin Screen

The Bin functions as a recycle bin for deleted drawings.

Features:

  • Restore: Recover drawings that were moved to the bin.
  • Permanent Deletion: Files remain in the bin for 1 month before being automatically deleted.

Note: Restored files return to their original folder.

5) File Lifecycle

  1. Create: Start a new drawing (Blank or Template).
  2. Save: All changes are saved automatically to the cloud.
  3. Organize: Move files into folders on My Drawings.
  4. Share: Collaborate with others via the Share option.
  5. Archive/Delete: Move old drawings to Bin.
  6. Restore or Lose: Retrieve within 1 month or lose permanently.

6) Quick Tips

  • Double‑click to open drawings.
  • Use folders to avoid clutter.
  • Templates are useful for repeated drawing formats.
  • Always check the Bin before a drawing is permanently deleted.
  • Use Download as PDF for printing or external sharing.
