Navigation Commands

This page covers the ZOOM and PAN commands for navigating the drawing canvas.


ZOOM (Command)

Changes the view magnification by zooming in, out, to extents, or to a specific window region.

Prompts

Prompt Description Keywords
Specify first point Pick the first corner of a zoom window All, Extent, In, Out
Specify second point Pick the opposite corner of the zoom window

Keywords

Keyword Description
All Zoom to show the entire sheet boundary
Extent Zoom to fit all drawing entities in the view
In Zoom in (increase magnification)
Out Zoom out (decrease magnification)

How to Use

Zoom Window (Default)

  1. Type zoom and press Enter
  2. Click the first corner of the area you want to magnify
  3. A rubber-band rectangle follows the cursor
  4. Click the second corner — the view zooms to fill that region

Zoom Keywords

  1. Type zoom and press Enter
  2. Type a keyword (All, Extent, In, or Out) and press Enter

Examples

Command: zoom
Specify first point [All / Extent / In / Out]: Extent
→ View adjusts to show all entities

Command: zoom
Specify first point [All / Extent / In / Out]: (click corner 1)
Specify second point: (click corner 2)
→ View zooms to the selected rectangle

PAN (Command)

Moves the view without changing magnification. Activates a drag-to-pan mode.

How to Use

  1. Type pan and press Enter
  2. Click and drag to move the view
  3. Release to stop panning
  4. Press Esc to exit pan mode

  • Scroll wheel: Zoom in/out at cursor position
